Our Team

  • Lisa Sealey

Visionary, leader, entrepreneur. Lisa saw a need and decided to fill it. Leaning on her decades-long experience with start-ups and digital media, Lisa began sketching a prototype of AfterShock more than three years ago and she’s thrilled that the time has come to bring it to life.

Lisa is used to being first. She began her career at Women.com, the first-ever online women’s content platform and was the marketing executive that launched an early and groundbreaking consumer video conference service, ooVoo in 2006 (pre-Zoom!)

A pioneer and brand-builder, she is always seeking the next great idea, and with AfterShock, she found it. As a woman in the middle of life, she has questions she knows every woman has and those questions became her inspiration for this exciting new platform.

Lisa is a life-long health and wellness junkie. She ran her first marathon nine months after the birth of her first child and has completed two NYC Triathlons and one Half Ironwoman. She currently enjoys Peloton, running and hot yoga and testing All TheProducts that have entered this space!

  • Dr. Kate Beyrer

Dr. Kate Beyrer is an intriguing blend of seeming opposites: an art history undergrad and Ivy league trained doctor of psychiatry. A Tibetan Buddhist, meditating since age 14, Kate was raised on Long Island by a surgeon father and newspaper editor mother. She blends Freudian analysis with modern psychopharmacology to treat patients. Her deep understanding of the biologic impacts on mind and mood is something she understands personally after experiencing postpartum depression following the birth of her second son at age 41.

Kate’s blend of East and West, the creative and traditional, has been explored throughout her life. As an Art History major at Barnard college, she was fully engaged with the early 1980’s art scene in Manhattan. A volunteer stint at the Cancer Hospice in Harlem ignited a new passion: Medicine. She attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University from 1988-1992 followed by a residency in psychiatry at New York Hospital Cornell-Weill Medical Center from 1992-1996.

In private practice since 2002, Kate is considered an expert clinician in the area of mood, with particular focus on Bipolar Disorder.

Kate is a swimmer, runner, skier and avid pursuer of anything athletic which allows her to keep up with her active teenage boys.

  • Leonora Valvo

Leonora Valvo has entrepreneur in her DNA. She is the founder of Swoogo and eTouches. A two-time venture capital-raising tech entrepreneur, Valvo has an enviable talent: the ability to recognize industry gaps and to solve for the “why-can’t-we-just-do-x” problems in it. She creates dynamic companies that make people quit other jobs and move locations just to work for her – and it’s not for the cool offices, free snacks and ping pong tables (at her last company, employees worked remotely from around the globe, years before the Covid pandemic.) Leonora founded etouches in 2008, successfully raising a $2.5M first round led by prominent venture fund Greycroft Partners. Under her leadership the company was named one of the INC. 5000 fastest growing companies and grew to more than $10M in revenue with more than 700 global customers. She founded event tech company Swoogo in 2014 and sold it to a private equity firm in 2020. She now owns and runs a private boatyard and marina in Ventura, CA.
